Verticals - What they really do for you. Imagine a "normal" panorama picture. It gives you the full world around you, left and right, in one view. It, so to say, puts you in a virtual armchair and let yourselves enjoy. You are level - if not slightly elevated, even if you picture yourselves in the real scene. It can add to the pleasure you would have anyway. What is different with giantic objects? High rise buildings of any nature, for example? In reality, they put you in the position of an ant, or a frog. Who has not felt it. At best it promotes a feeling of being overwhelmed - it may be even frighting or depressing to an extent. A vertical pano may put this into prospective. It puts all in one single view again you can see the whole again - even if you very close. At its foot, or even if you are in it. I think we all feel just more comfortable when we gracefully pan our head left and right other than constantly nodding in humility ;-)). |

Frauenkirche - Dresden - Fascinating church, particularly knowing what occured past the war, during GDR times and after the wall came down. Just a pile of rubble, but some people had the idea to rebuild. Here we are. Go and see ... |
Jewish Museum in Berlin - One of the voids which architect Libeskind integrated into his part of the buildings. This one shows the installation "Fallen Leaves" of Menashe Kadishman. |
